Daniel Hummerdal

Daniel Hummerdal, author and leadership consultant.

Daniel started out as a pilot, retrained as a psychologist, and has spent the last fifteen years working with leaders and frontline teams in high-risk industries trying to understand why performance falls short of what people are actually capable of.

He has worked with organisations including Netflix, Digital Realty, Laing O'Rourke, and WorkSafe New Zealand, and has sat with a lot of leadership teams trying to close the gap between how they think their organisation works and what's actually happening on the ground.

What he has learned is that performance challenges are almost always relational. Performance improves when leaders and the people doing the work understand each other better, not simply by tightening controls.

An Invitation to Safety Conversations is the practical expression of that learning. Not a framework to adopt, but a way of showing up that makes it easier for people to speak honestly about what matters at work.
